7.8 Failure modes and admission

Combinational systems face characteristic errors:

• type erasure: rhetorically similar concepts are treated as interchangeable;

• interface hallucination: a mediator is proposed without evidence that either domain supports it;

• double counting: overlapping mechanisms are composed as if they were independent;

• observer capture: novelty is visible only under the score used to generate the candidate;

• nontransport: the bridge works for one example but cannot be reused elsewhere.

. Admit a combination only after recording the source objects, interface maps, preserved diagrams, interaction observer, counter-witnesses, and transfer test. If a new interface type was required, record the candidate theory extension and transport of prior models, and do not admit the combination until that presentation change has itself passed admission, rather than presenting the result as composition in the original language.

Combination asks whether relevant pieces can be connected through an admissible interface. Chapter 8 changes the creative object while holding the declaration fixed: it asks how active probes can reveal useful but previously unvisited paths and consequences within that space.
