10.6.1 Four control actions

The algorithm exposes four actions rather than a forced update:

Assimilate.

Update \(M_X\) inside the current declaration.

Propose proto-accommodation.

After finite diagnosis and a registered nonrealizability gate, propose a typed change \(J:\mathbb {S}_X\to \mathbb {S}_X^{+}\) and transport compatible evidence.

Intervene.

Acquire a probe designed to separate currently admissible explanations or repairs.

Abstain.

Record that the observer or intervention contract does not identify an admissible action at the current budget.

These actions make DIAL-X closer to an experimental controller than to a regularizer. A regularizer may be one proposal inside the assimilatory branch; it is not the complete algorithm.
