17.4 The AGENTIC corpus contract

The meta-sketch links three versioned stores: a source-bearing scientific theory, an executable document and data workflow, and an acquisition policy over retrieval, extraction, comparison, and requests for external evidence.

Corpus role

Constructed object

Permitted status

CLIC

Organize observational and interventional claims, alternatives, and missing mechanisms

Causal sketch extension or discriminating experimental question

Proposed unless identification evidence is supplied

OPTIC

Build typed retrieval, extraction, normalization, and reconciliation procedures

Source-to-model skill, mediator schema, or audit workflow

Admitted for execution semantics, not biological truth

RELIC

Allocate queries and evidence acquisition under cost

Source-selection policy, stopping rule, or experiment priority

Admitted for declared utility and calibration

The interface admission record tracks every theory element to its source spans, context, extraction version, and transformations. A downstream causal packet must preserve whether its evidence was observational, interventional, simulated, or asserted by an author. Agreement among papers does not upgrade the evidence type.

Here \(\mathfrak R_{\mathrm{corpus}}\) contains the source and extraction grammar, provenance schema, contextual theory presentation, query and acquisition policy, evidence-type doctrine, observers, and admission rules. The comparison

\[ \Upsilon _{\mathrm{corpus}}: \mathfrak R_{\mathrm{corpus}}\longrightarrow \mathfrak R_{\mathrm{corpus}}^+ \]

records changes to any of them; a map between scientific sketches is only its presentation component. The registered controls \(\mathsf{Ctl}_{\mathrm{corpus}}\) include no change, entity aliasing, context splitting, extraction and retrieval error, missing overlap or measurement, source dependence, fixed-grammar reconciliation, unsupported-source worlds, and sealed-report or external-evidence checks. A fluent synthesis is not a control against these alternatives because it can reproduce the same hidden source failure.
