18.5 ARTISTIC as an AGENTIC system

The three component workflows receive distinct contracts.

CLIC.

Use CLIC, or a noncausal structural analogue, to intervene on prompts, seeds, image regions, attention bindings, and rendering controls. The purpose is to localize a stable semantic failure. Unless a model-internal causal semantics is declared, this remains structural diagnosis rather than a claim about causality in the depicted world.

OPTIC.

Construct a token, relation, prompt macro, semantic mediator, embedding, adapter, or control program. Its artifact must declare input and output types, scope, invariants, and executable tests.

RELIC.

Select contrastive prompts and generations that discriminate candidate meanings, allocate seeds and rendering budgets, and learn when the admitted construction should be deployed.

Their structural packets preserve the visual representational package \(\mathfrak R_{\mathrm{ART}}\): the language sketch, tokenizer and encoder, generator and renderer interface, visual observers, admission rules, and proposal grammar. A proposed comparison

also carries the localized binding defect, contrastive queries, control record, rendering artifacts, transport, and separate semantic and visual certificates; a visual-sketch map is only its presentation component. The applicable control suite \(\mathsf{Ctl}_{\mathrm{ART}}\) includes no edit, stronger prompting or regeneration under the fixed declaration, localized and global edits, capacity-matched untyped repair, matched-random regions or probes, observer and viewpoint alternatives, and an oracle declaration where available. A successful image does not automatically admit the proposed meaning; a coherent meaning does not guarantee that the generator can render it. Most natural-image repairs below keep \(\Upsilon _{\mathrm{ART}}\) equal to the identity and construct an operational repair inside the maintained package.
