10.4.1 The artifact dossier

The phrase creative artifact will therefore not denote an output object alone. A DIAL-X claim is attached to a versioned artifact dossier

where \(y\in Y_X\) is the operational construction, \(\Upsilon _X\) the package comparison, \(\mathsf{Tr}_X\) the transport record, \(c_X\) the certificate record, and \(m_X\) the persistent provenance and replay state. The presentation component of \(\Upsilon _X\), when changed, is a typed map \(J_X:\mathbb S_X\to \mathbb S_X^+\); changes to observers, doctrine, semantics, or admission occupy their corresponding components. Rejected and unsupported proposals retain dossiers recording why they were not admitted.

For combinational or exploratory creativity, \(\Upsilon _X\) may be the identity; for transformational creativity, a nontrivial typed \(\Upsilon _X\) is part of the claim. Novelty of \(y\) is never sufficient. The dossier keeps separate what was produced, what language changed, what prior knowledge survived, and what independent evidence warrants retention.

. When a chapter names a creative artifact, read it as shorthand for an artifact dossier. If only the operational output has been constructed, the text must say so and must not silently promote it to an admitted theory extension.
