10.3.1 The creative delta

For an application inherited from LINCS, the relevant question is not merely “What does DIAL add?” but “What becomes inventable that was not expressible before?” A useful one-sentence specification has three clauses:

\(X\) operates inside a declared language. LINCS-X makes a particular structural failure in that language visible. Creative DIAL-X may enlarge the language by inventing a specified kind of object or rule, whose value is then tested independently.

The phrase may enlarge matters. A DIAL-X system must still be allowed to assimilate, intervene, or abstain. Creativity is the additional capacity to construct an admissible candidate beyond the initial expressive boundary, not a requirement to redescribe every ordinary update as invention. In the catalogue below, invent names the kind of structure that the creative mandate permits the system to propose. It does not report that an experiment has already constructed and admitted such a structure.

GIRL.

GIRL lifts Bellman and policy-learning structure to tangent and quotient spaces, exposing how a policy may vary inside the current decision language. Creative DIAL-GIRL may invent a state abstraction, option, action type, reward decomposition, skill boundary, or quotient that the original decision sketch could not express. The creative artifact is an enlarged decision theory, not merely a policy with higher return.

ALLORA.

ALLORA makes the order dependence of typed low-rank adapters visible and tries to enforce their declared commutativity. Creative DIAL-ALLORA may invent a new adapter decomposition, shared mediator, routing object, adapter type, or composition law that makes a previously unavailable capability combination possible. The creative artifact is a revised grammar of adapter composition, not merely a better ordering of registered adapters.

SKFM.

BRIDGE—Bracket Residuals for Interventional Discovery and Geometric Estimation—together with Spectral Kernel Flow Matching (SKFM) use intervention fields and Lie-bracket closure to diagnose when a proposed causal factorization is inadequate. Creative DIAL-SKFM may invent a previously unrepresented variable, latent dimension, mechanism family, factorization, or discriminating intervention. The creative artifact is a causal-theory extension with new experimental consequences, not merely the highest-scoring graph in a supplied class.

LASKO.

LASKO represents typed skills as sections of a Lie algebroid and optimizes their locally available compositions. Creative DIAL-LASKO may invent a new skill type, interface, decomposition, control-flow construct, or workflow grammar when the registered skill vocabulary cannot express a successful repair. The creative artifact is an extended language of action, not merely a retuned skill program. Section 4.7 gives the corresponding training realization: DIAL-SkillOpt improves an external discovery skill on training and validation worlds, then freezes it before independent admission.

LINCS-RLHF.

LINCS-RLHF diagnoses failures of a fixed reward or preference representation, including cycles and incompatible local orderings. Creative DIAL-RLHF may invent a relational, contextual, minimax, or otherwise nonscalar preference object together with observers that make it testable. The creative artifact is a new language for value, not merely another fitted reward model.

RADAR.

RADAR diagnoses incompatibility between local optimization and global relational constraints. Creative DIAL-RADAR may introduce a new decision variable, decomposition, mediating object, or constraint interface that exposes a feasible decision unavailable in the original presentation. The creative artifact must preserve the governing constraints; relaxing them silently is not invention.

SID.

SID detects failures of local records or models to descend to a coherent global instance. Creative DIAL-SID may invent a mediating schema object, cross-context map, provenance relation, or ontology refinement that resolves a localized overlap defect. The creative artifact is an expanded integration theory whose descent can be replayed on independent records.

CoLT.

CoLT makes inference and declaration repair explicit in an auditable reasoning sketch. Creative DIAL-CoLT may invent a new concept, warrant type, explanatory mechanism, axiom, or argument role when the current reasoning language cannot factor the evidence. The creative artifact is an admitted extension of the reasoning language, not an unusual continuation of a textual trace.

. For every DIAL-X name, publish a one-sentence creative delta: the fixed language, the LINCS-visible obstruction, the newly inventable structure, and the independent test of value. If the newly inventable structure cannot be named, the creativity claim is not yet operational.
