18.14.5 The generator interface
18.14.5 The generator interface
A deployable system should isolate each image provider behind a small adapter:
The ARTISTIC controller owns the sketch, observer, diagnosis, repair contract, and admission decision; the provider supplies image proposals. This boundary supports at least three depths of integration.
- Black-box prompting.
Compile a sketch into a more informative initial request and call an ordinary generation endpoint.
- Image-level assurance.
Inspect a returned image, localize violations, and call an editing endpoint with preservation and repair obligations. The sports cases above operate at this level.
- Diffusion-native enforcement.
Observe and steer intermediate latents, attention maps, score fields, or denoising steps. This deeper level is accessible only when the provider exposes the relevant internal state; it remains the most direct experimental bridge to the double infinitesimal geometry proposed earlier in the chapter.
The interface distinction prevents a misleading interpretation of the current results. In the challenge repairs, ARTISTIC supplied the domain theory and compiled instruction, while the image editor synthesized the corrected pixels. The experiments did not directly alter the hidden diffusion trajectory or prove that the editor had acquired a persistent theory of the game.
