12.10 Design lesson

LINCS–KET is valuable precisely because the first experiment failed. The failure showed that scalarizing semantically distinct blocks can admit the wrong repair. The separately registered blockwise experiment then repaired the admission mechanism rather than erasing the unfavorable result. This is LINCS learning at the level of experimental design: non-compositionality drove not only a model update, but a better contract for deciding which updates count.
