The pattern language rests on several mature literatures rather than one single precursor. Sketches and categorical model theory provide declaration [ Barr and Wells , 1999 , Makkai and Paré , 1989 ] ; tangent categories provide structural differentiation [ Cockett and Cruttwell , 2014b ] ; sheaves provide localization and descent [ Mac Lane and Moerdijk , 1992 ] ; and categorical learning provides compositional parameter and credit semantics [ Fong et al. , 2019 , Cruttwell et al. , 2022 ] .

For the empirical side, reproducible language-model evaluation requires fixed task definitions, versions, prompts, decoding rules, and complete call accounting. The Language Model Evaluation Harness [ EleutherAI , 2026 ] is one widely used substrate, while recent lessons on reproducible evaluation emphasize the instability introduced by seemingly minor harness choices [ Biderman et al. , 2026 ] . A LINCS certificate adds the structural declaration, null quotient, localization witness, rejected repairs, and admission decision to this familiar experiment manifest.
